Coalition Information

At the Nutley Health Fair on October 23, 2004, we presented information about the importance of healthy school lunches and snacks. We had posters and flyers, food giveaways, a video about the Appleton school district, and a survey for parents to complete.

At Nutley Family Science Day on April 2, 2005, we had a table about "The Science of the 3 R's: Reuse, Reduce, Recycle." It contained informational posters, a game with recycled prizes, decorate-your-own seed packets, a vermiculture display, string and green bags for sale, bookmarks, and information about our group.

We also had a table at Nutley's Newcomer's Night on April 13, 2005.

Our table at the Festival in the Park on September 11, 2005 focussed on recycling and backyard composting. We had displays to inform residents that Nutley now recycles all food cans and many types of paper, flyers about Essex County's hazardous waste and electronics recycling days, and lots of information about composting.

On October 23, 2005 we hosted a Backyard Composting Demonstration at Kingsland Manor. An Essex County Master Gardener discussed composting equipment and methods, and composting literature was distributed.

On October 20, 2007 we had a table at the Nutley Health Expo about organic food and how it can be obtained locally.

In October, 2007 we were interviewed by the Nutley Sun for a 10/25/07 article about composting.

In 2008, we added a composting page to Nutley's website (www.nutleynj.org/CompostingInfo.aspx).
